My dad was an architect's draughtsman when we were kids, his drawing board and old ink bottles were so tempting. Being the kid that always had to fiddle and explore, the spillage was inevitable.
Spilling something on the floor as a kid is a rush of panic, a blend of alarm, fear, and a sudden sense of urgency. In that split second, time seems to slow as you watch it tumble down, and a wave of dread washes over you. You feel a tug of anxiety, as if your heart is racing to catch up with your mind, and the thought of getting in trouble looms large.
It's more than just a mess; it's a reminder of how carefree and adventurous childhood feels.
I design and hand make every piece in my studio in Bucks. These are made from porcelain slip clay with a glossy clear finish inside and a matt unglazed outside. They are food safe and can go in the dishwasher. They are 16cm wide and 1.5cm in height.
